Assemblage With Old Watercolor Sets
This was a wonderfully challenging project; you could actually see the thinking going on.
The Ever-Changing by Reese |
My assemblage is about a person's journey through life. Sometimes we are struggling, sometimes we feel like we have the world in our hands, at other times maybe we are just at peace. The silver piece represents how there is always hope and dreams in us.Esmae |
My assemblage is about being lost in the moment of doing something you love.Gabriel |

Endless Possibilities
4th grade student, collage with water-colored paper and marker |
2nd and 3rd grade artists, these were all made from our painted watercolor charts |
When we grow up we start to believe that if you have lemons, go ahead, finish it... you make lemonade. Children have the gift of believing they can travel, become, soar, navigate and dream with a painted sheet of paper.
Note to self: Keep your eyes on the lemons.-

Cut Paper Collage
The week after torn collage, we did cut paper collage. I just love to see Kinder cut paper, they are so engaged. I demonstrated cutting strips into rectangles, rectangles into triangles and how to cut round shapes by turning the paper not the scissors. They really absorbed everything so easily. Making Tints
One of the objectives for this lesson was to understand how to make tints. The palette included the secondary colors plus white. They could paint any type of plant life they imagined as long as it was large.
The last day we added gold paint to the background which I feel added an ethereal quality to the paintings.

Dreaming
There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?
Robert Kennedy
Our color charts were transformed into dreamy landscapes against a night sky.
These are a mix of Kinder, First and Second
They all loved it!
